I think in traditional racing you get more of a sense of brand recognition. Even more so in racing series that require the vehicle to be a certain amount original to the production cars. Extreme? racing is good for showing what a brand can do … but never will … Though I don’t agree with drag racing being put into the category of “extreme”, its been around since the first two cars were created. The best form is dependent on what you are showing.

Formulas mainly were put to balance safety and taking the performance to the highest level possible. Some cars are better in wheel-to-wheel than others. Can’t have that Scion do wheels instead of time attacks or drifting ( which isnt really much of a race in a true racing sense, unlike its origin, the touge? ). It all will depend on what the consumer is into, drifting vs rallying vs time attacks vs wheel-to-wheel. Scion & others are just pointing their marketing to their target audience.

I see Scion racing as a pure definition of EXTREME RACING. Why? Scion doesn’t sell you a vehicle and say this is what you get. From the? beginning they focused on making the car yours. They prove this when you see the crazy mods they do to their vehicles. Everyone crying about how the tc shouldn’t be drifting needs to pay attention to that fact and man up. That being said i think any sport that involves tearing 500+ hp from daily drivers and seeing how fast they go on the track is what matters.

Guess i can’t comment then. WTH? Youtube???

Traditional racing. I`m all about race on a sunday, Sell it on a monday type of? guy. I dont wanna see a race of cars you can only dream of. rdw scion tc ?? never seen on a street so that makes it unreal in a way. so traditional racing FTW

I gotten into drifting ever since 2003 when Drift Day was just something passed along by word of mouth, know a lot of? those pro drifters. I love all motor sports. As for the brand’s image on motor sports goal differences between Scion & Subaru on the same car “86″ I would have to favor Subaru because of the involvement with the company directly for Super GT where more than likely Scion where drifting, drag, rally & road racing would be done by a privateer with little of Scion direct involvement.

i actually watched all the video’s…subaru always said that their goal is to make impreza a rival for BMW m3? and audi s5…so i think they are trying to evolve into a more main stream brand by doing more traditional racing and scion is where subaru was 10 years ago.

As a true fan of automotive? racing, I can’t just pick one. Both traditional and extreme have their place in the racing world. but for a car to build a name for its self, i would have to say that its needs to start in the extreme and work its way into the traditional. I feel that the Drift and Time Attack appeal to the younger generation and as the team and car get better and build experience, so do the fans. so eventually the car and fans could move into the traditional racing.

traditional racing no? doubt.. the trill is awesome.. speedddddddddddddddddddddd

  11. pimpinteddy says:

    @pimpinteddy? care*

  12. pimpinteddy says:

extreme seems more fun cause it is a bit more accessible, but obviously if you car about speed and not about big smoke then traditional is the way to go. only few people ever get track time but lots of us do doughnuts in parking lots.

I think thats why brands will advertise with extreme, its actually doable by the consumer. (in moderation of course)

i prefer traditional but i know that? type of racing rarely reflects on anything id be able to do with my car

  13. lifethelifetoday says:

Traditional. Modifing cars to race? and run them.

  14. wrek496 says:

Isle of Man IS extreme racing. That’s some hairy s*#t!! My vote is for traditional if I have to? pick.

  15. RarivMorben says:

    @LeoParente Traditional Racing? for me

  16. bigboy789inches says:

i believe in both kinds of racing traditional to catch? your attention and show what they can do. And extreme to keep your attention and to push technology, and conventions.
Personally i love drifting and grip racing gt300 and isle of man.

  17. doubleKlutch says:

I don’t connect any brand with racing. I mean, where can I? find a RWD Scion tC at a showroom. Factory sponsored racing is a joke.
I might actually care about a factory racing team if there was an actual ‘stock car’ racing series.
How much money a brand can dump into a one off vehicle reflects nothing on a street car’s reputation.
I honestly can’t believe this is a real question posed in the racing community. Am I missing something?

  18. xlee888 says:

    Traditional racing =? Real racing
    Extreme racing = Ricer racing

  19. corbelius6 says:

I’m? going with Traditional, especially after Subaru’s Vid.

  20. ahovorka10 says:

traditional? if your a true petrol head

  21. sidewayzM3 says:

Wow Suburu’s driver and video in isle of man won it for me !? Tradional!!!!

but as for marketing for the scion I believe marketing toward youngsters and drifting would be better.

  22. bb3xhrhj says:

Traditional racing.. i live? for that.

  23. MrOpoooooooooooooooo says:

@abdul0022 how? is honda becoming dead

  24. campbell031093 says:

for car fans traditional racing is where they look and admire cars

for people that dont really care about cars but see these extreme racing cars and think they will look cool? in the same version of the car just street legal

it depends on what sort of market the company think they can get the most out of

scion for example are a bit of a laughing stock when it comes to car fans so they target the people who are not car fans to sell more cars

  25. wrek496 says:

Hondaminican has it right. but the new car being rwd changes the game a little. traditional is far more applicable to the way most new FR-S or BRZ owners will be racing their cars. drag drift and time attack have their place too. IMO time attack is kinda awesome and seems to have a little of that crazy can am/ IMSA? unlimited spirit.
